Girl’s Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night

The RHS’ girls volleyball teams honored their 4 graduating seniors during their game against Minooka

On Tues Oct 17, Romeoville High School’s Girls’ Volleyball teams went up against Minooka High School with Varisty taking home the win in two tight sets. JV played a tough match as well but ultimately lost in the second set.

The time break between the JV and Varsity games was dedicated to the four graduating senior players: Chole Anderson, The’Asia Davenport, Savana Jurgens, and Savannah Vicory. A moment of true sportsmanship was shown when the RHS volleyball gifted roses to the graduating seniors on Minooka’s team.

Chloe Anderson (11) is the team’s right-side hitter and has played on Varsity for two years. She brings plenty of awkward moments & jokes to volleyball every single day. Anderson has been accepted to play division 1 volleyball at Manhattan College in New York majoring in Computer Science. Her advice to underclassmen would be, “To have fun. You are required to be in high school for four years and while being in those years I believe it is truly important to have fun, be in the moment, and enjoy it”.

The’Asia Davenport (10) is a first-year transfer student to RHS and plays right side for the team. She is described to have a great sense of humor and a smile that lights up every practice! Hardworking and persistent, Davenport is devoted to her loving and supportive family. As she wraps up her final year of high school she encourages underclassmen to not overthink everything. She plans to pursue a future in nursing and is currently browsing for the perfect college.

Savana Jurgens (7) brings heart and hard work to volleyball every single day. She has played on Varsity for three years as an outside hitter. She plans to attend college majoring in psychology or criminology “[Playing volleball] has given me a great environment where we all feel comfortable with each other and enjoy growing together as a team” said Jurgens. Her advice for underclassmen is to learn how to manage their time between school and sports, and to be friendly with everyone.

Savannah Vicory (9) is a three-year Varsity athlete playing the position of outside side hitter. Being captain of this season’s team, she has demonstrated a strong dedication and heart for both volleyball and her teammates. Vicory plans to major in psychology to become a school counselor. She says volleyball has taught her to be a leader and to evoke a strong work ethic. Her advice to younger players is to always put their best self out on the court and to always play as if it’s the last ever game.
